Meaningful Relationships

Happy New Years Guys! This is my 100th post and also my 3rd year anniversary of blogging! SO, hopefully this post is good. 🙂

Looking back at 2013, I’ve noticed how so many of my relationships have changed. Some have distanced, some no longer there. And on the contrary there are also relationships that have become closer and stronger. More relationships built.

What I realized is: A meaningful year, month, or even day… is directly correlated to the strength of my relationships (love and understanding for others).

One of my favorite examples is Kayla. Kayla and I have been friends since our freshman year of high school, but this year Kayla and I have expanded our friendship to beyond just “school friends”, we hang out outside of class, and we’ve reached a deeper understanding of each other. Now each class I have with Kayla is more meaningful, and each moment is worth living in the present.

Now, when I say strength, I don’t only mean depth. I also mean allowing yourself to treat each person with the same amount of respect and dignity despite their social status or intelligence. Truth is, everyone is different, and you’re not necessarily going to like everyone either. BUT when you give each person the same amount of respect, you start being able to relate to different types of people, (It’s crazy!) and each relationship becomes more meaningful. This is something that I’ve been wanting to address because I constantly hear judgement from others. And it isn’t because I’m any better that I am saying this, but it is because I am no better that I’m saying we have no right to sit and judge. God says he will do the judging, so we need to leave that to him.

When I relate this back to God I always find that the stronger my relationship with God is, the more purpose I find in myself. The more I want to make my life meaningful and glorify him. So as this New Year begins, I hope you strive to form deeper relationships through your love for others. I hope you strive to find the beauty in each relationship. And I hope you strive to find meaning in each moment you live.

“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” -1 Corinthians 13:2

God bless you this upcoming year.
